Letters to the Castle in the Sky

The following prose explores themes of societal discontentment and concerns about the world we live in.
Maybe the answers we seek in the clouds are already within us on the ground.

Dear World Leaders,

Planes eject smoke trails, tattooing the sky with chemicals unknown

Screens hold our attention while robbing us for the sake of a loan

All in the name of freedom, justice and peace

While dodging the crossfire that never seems to cease

The price for a dozen eggs continues to soar

As you build your kingdoms and silence our roar

A thunderous sound where we collectively stand

Against diplomats and politicians that “lend” us a hand

While seeing behind titles and agendas is not enough

Your plots to distract is a means to call our bluff

We pay our tithes along with taxes at the altar

Surely enough to have our descendants falter

Let us pray for healing over this land

In a time where attention is the flame most fanned

The clock strikes twelve as we finish the race

Returning to a circadian rhythm of dreamers in space
